For Wacey Schalla, the drive to succeed in the arena comes from his true love for the sport. Success on large stages is nothing new for the young cowboy, as he has already racked up many accolades including winning the 2022 Cowtown Christmas Division Youth Showcase Bull Riding. Last month, Schalla took home the title with a commanding winning ride of 82 points.
While in Fort Worth, the dual-event athlete also took home the Reserve Champion paycheck in the Bareback Riding with a strong 77.5 ride, just a half point shy of the title.
Schalla reflected on his rides in the historic Cowtown Coliseum explaining โIt was an awesome experience. The WCRA has provided many great opportunities for riders like myself to compete at a higher level and on a larger stage.โ
Schalla is no stranger to the WCRA DY field and aims to have an even bigger year than he did in 2022. As the 2022 Cinch World Championship Junior Rodeo Bull Riding Champion looks towards the new season, he hopes to have another impactful and memorable season. As he reflected on the past season, he explained the impact it has made on his young career.
โI have been so grateful for the opportunities the WCRA has provided me. I hope to continue to find success at the WCJR.โ Schalla further explained his goals for the 2023 WCJR include doing his best in his events and taking home the All-Around title.
Outside of the arena, Schalla is already leaving his mark on the bull riding world in more ways than one. The young entrepreneur currently has a small bull selling business, which he hopes will aid him in getting down the rodeo road.
Schalla currently sits atop the Bull Riding standings with a commanding 1,312-point lead over second place. He also currently sits in fourth place of the Bareback standings with 1,368.5 points. Schalla balances his small business, competing at a high caliber, and completing his school work with the constant reminder of why he does what he does.
โI just love riding bulls and getting to compete at this level.โ
