What is a Qualifier Series Event?
Select age-restricted (youth) events (rodeos and jackpots) hosted by WCRA and/or an approved event producer will be designated as a WCRA DY Qualifier Series event. The highest-placing nominated athlete at a DY Qualifier Series event earns a generic qualification to the 2024 World Championship Junior Rodeo (WCJR) regardless of Segment DY24 leaderboard position. Athletes may earn one (1) generic qualification. If an athlete is the highest nominated athlete at more than one QS event, we will drop down to the next highest placed nominated athlete to award the generic qualification at those events.
HOW MANY QUALIFIER SERIES EVENTS ARE THERE?
The WCJR Qualifying Rounds will be timed events only and consist of two rounds. The top two competitors in each discipline per round, along with the top six in the aggregate, will advance to the semi-finals. They will join the top 12 seeded athletes from the WCRA DY25 Leaderboard.
AM I ELIGIBLE?
The athlete must voluntarily nominate the Qualifier Series event to be eligible to earn a generic qualification to the 2025 World Championship Junior Rodeo (WCJR).
WHO EARNS THE QUALIFICATION?
QS Events award a generic qualification into the Cinch World Championship Junior Rodeo.
- Generic Qualifications are awarded based on the following:
- Single round events – fastest times/highest score
- Multiple round events fastest combined times/highest score from the overall aggregate or clean slate final round based on event format.
- The athlete does not have to place in a paid position.
EXPANDED POINTS
The Expanded Points feature provides opportunities for more athletes to earn valuable DY25 leaderboard points. Expanded points format events will award VRQ points beyond the final paid position in a round or aggregate up to 20 positions (40 fastest times in barrel racing), in paid rounds of competition. Athletes must have recorded a qualified time in a round of competition to earn VRQ points.
