High School Rodeo Programs and WCRA DY have joined forces to offer cash bonuses at their upcoming State Finals. The Texas partnership also provides a direct route to the Cinch World Championship Junior Rodeo (WCJR) at the Lazy E Arena, featuring over $200,000 in added prize money. The event is scheduled to take place from July 23-27. Payments are to a “single or collection of athletes”; if more than one athlete completes the trifecta, those athletes will equally split the bonus. Athletes are not required to nominate.

How Do You Win?

The Texas Trifecta: $20,000 Bonus

The “WCRA DY Texas Trifecta” will pay a $20,000 cash bonus to any THSRA athlete(s) who wins their respective discipline;

  • Win their State Region
  • Wins at least one go-round of competition at the THSRA State Finals
  • Wins THSRA State Championship

Must win in the same discipline*

Louisianna and Oklahoma Trifecta: $ 3,500 Bonus

The bonus will pay $3,500 to any OHHRA or LHSRA athlete(s) who wins their respective discipline;

The trifecta we will offer will consist of the following:

  • Enters the state finals in the number one leaderboard spot
  • Wins at least one go-round of competition at the LAHSRA State Finals or Aggregate
  • Wins LAHSRA State Championship

Must win in the same discipline*

What Disciplines Are Eligible?

The following disciplines are eligible: bareback, steer wrestling, barrel racing, breakaway roping, tie-down roping, saddle bronc, goat tying, heading, heeling, pole bending, and bull riding.

Invite to The WCJR

TEXAS HIGH SCHOOL ONLY:

In addition to the cash bonus, the highest placing nominated athletes will earn an invite to the 2024 WCJR held in Guthrie, Oklahoma July 23-27. The 2024 WCRA Division Youth (DY) event will have over $200,000 in added prize money and is open to any youth athlete ages 19 and under. The WCJR is one of the largest annual purses in youth rodeo and paid out more than $407,000 in 2023, while crowning new Youth World Champions. 

What if Nobody or Multiple Athletes Win?

If no athlete completes the WCRA Trifecta, the cash bonus will be split evenly between all 11 discipline’s State Champions. Payments are to a “single or collection of athletes”; if more than one athlete completes the trifecta, those athletes will equally split the bonus.
